Interview with Edouard Taza

Which achievements are you most proud of?

Definitely Omnivox and Clara !

Omnivox - because it comes into play in the lives of millions of students and teachers by providing them with new ways to interact amongst themselves and with their establishment.

Clara - because it’s a revolutionary way to manage an academic establishment, in a much more efficient and user-friendly way than anything that was ever done in the past.

How do you define Skytech?

Skytech is a very innovative company that is at the crossroads of two areas: Reengineering of education and Computer science.

Our in-depth knowledge of both these areas, combined with our team’s creativity, allow us to put forward solutions never before seen in Education and that make life simpler for everyone attending an academic establishment.

What is your latest development?

Our latest innovation is called Omnivox mobile. It's the App I would have loved to have when I was a student!

Using their mobile device, students can communicate with their classmates and teachers. They have instant access to their schedule, course documents, assignments, grades, academic calendar, their establishment’s latest news, and so much more!

To our knowledge, this is the first time worldwide that such an advanced app is made available to students. We are extremely happy with the users’ response to date, as the app was downloaded by hundreds of thousands of students who have given it a 5 star rating and rave reviews!

Are you working on other revolutionary projects in Education?

Every single day! (laughter) We are currently putting the final touches on a product that involves an area that I hold close to my heart: students helping students. This product is called: Peer tutoring.

Some of the best memories I have of being in school are those times when I helped other students understand things and when I myself received assistance in order to better succeed.

However, many students are not as fortunate and may not have friends that are ready and willing to help them in each subject with which they experience difficulties. Too often, students wait until it's too late to ask for help, when they are already in the advanced stages of failing the course.

Peer tutoring identifies students who have potential for becoming tutors in different subjects as well as those who would benefit from receiving assistance before they experience serious difficulties. They are invited to join the Learning Centre as tutors or tutees. The system will then determine to what extent the tutoring received enabled the student to achieve academic success.

In other words, helping students become tutors or helping them receive assistance fosters their success. The other positive side-effect is the new friendships that are forged through their tutoring relationship!

What is the secret behind Skytech’s success?

Our ability to combine our knowledge of the Education system and Computer science to think up solutions no one has thought of before us... and to then design and create them as near to perfection as possible in order for our solutions to become the must haves that we just cannot do without! (laughter)

And especially our exceptional team that shares this same vision: To simplify the way things are done in Education. Our company is made up of remarkable individuals, and we provide each and every one of them with the opportunity to do what they love best in a great environment. Each member of our team is a leader in their own way, and we could not be successful any other way.

What does the future have in store for Skytech?

We are currently working on solutions that will allow academic establishments to offer their employees and students, services that are as of yet totally unheard of. These solutions will be both very useful and easy to use. In my opinion, the beauty of a solution resides in its simplicity.

And to paraphrase a famous science fiction television show, we will continue to explore the universe at the crossroads of Reengineering of education and Computer science "to boldly go where no man has gone before!"
